This all started when the wealth management firm I work for decided to jump on the social media train. They wanted to expand their marketing to YouTube, TikTok and Instagram. And they needed someone to find interesting topics to create videos, articles and more.
I’ll give you one guess who they gave that responsibility to:
Hi, my name is Rebekah. I’m a mom of four. I work for a financial firm and my money management knowledge is about equal to a high schooler.
I handle the administrative work on a daily basis. Opening account paperwork, updating our systems with client information, and attending meetings for note taking. I don’t need to know how my boss does his job, just what he needs in order to do it. One thing my position requires is that I attend our webinars and seminars. So halfway through our latest seminar, I realize I don’t actually understand what he’s talking about and even more importantly, how I could apply it to my real life. Here’s the CEO talking about hedging your portfolio and all I hear is “blah blah blah” like Charlie Brown’s teacher.
So you can see my dilemma now! How do I create content on a subject that I know very little about? I did what any millennial would do…I researched! I Google-d my heart out.. I currently have 6-7 informative financial websites saved in my browser along with numerous TikTok and YouTube videos on my phone.
I googled things like:
Which quickly turned into:
With each topic I was left with more questions than answers. I have to use several websites to get a full view and weirdly enough, I got several different answers or worse…completely outdated information. I also noticed that some of these self-help websites were really designed to sell you on a product..either theirs or a partner’s. And their verbiage was mostly financial lingo and not your coffee talk.
I need a translator.
So with the help of my boss, partner and a few friends inside the financial world, we came up with a resource that not only gives you an insider look into the financial district but also clearly provides answers to your financial questions and not bore you out of your mind. Whether you’re simply wanting to learn how to open a 401(k) or what life insurance could do for someone with $10,000 vs $1M, we want to help. We will break down the complex wording so anyone can understand and feel more secure when talking about finances.
I want to be clear….this is not a company. I cannot give you investment advice but I can FREE straightforward examples and explanations with the help of financial professionals who want to share their knowledge. We get the opportunity to pick the brains of Estate Planning attorneys, CPAs, financial advisors, and whatever else we need!
With all that being said, let’s have some fun and learn!
